VISUAL APPROACH
The visual language should feel distinctively Vietnamese and unmistakably 1938: French-colonial interiors, northern family houses, Catholic rituals, polished wood, humid courtyards, tailored linen, and the tension between old land, new money, and modern education.
It should also feel contemporary. The aim is sophisticated but accessible cinema for younger audiences: romantic, sharp, visually textured, emotionally direct, and paced with the confidence of a modern prestige drama. This is not slow heritage cinema. It is a period world with heat, desire, social pressure, and clear audience momentum.
